On slowness

Speed is a habit. Slowness is a choice. When I open a page that isn't trying to sell me something, I can actually read it. That's the whole test.

I keep a plain text file of good sentences. No app, no sync, no login. It lives in a folder I back up by hand. That is enough.

The best websites feel like rooms with the lights on and the door open. You can leave whenever you want, and no one follows you out.

Mostly old manuals, field guides, and letters. They remind me that writing doesn't need to be optimized to be useful.
