Fieldnotes began as a way to keep a few thoughts without feeding them to a platform.
Why static?
Every page here is a plain HTML file. There is no database, no build step, and no third-party service deciding what loads. That means the site is fast, private, and easy to archive.
What lives here
- Short journal entries with no comment section.
- A single stylesheet that controls the entire look.
- An SVG favicon embedded directly in each page.
- A custom 404 page for the paths that wander off.
Design constraints
No inline styles or scripts. No forms. No remote fonts, images, or analytics. The only JavaScript is a small file that adjusts the document title — nothing more.
